Feature Artist Bio
By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the first of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by American painter Karin Faulk Nelson (Born 1956 in Gladwin, Michigan).
Karin Nelson discovered art late in her life just eight years ago, and her self-taught path has since been full of dramatic and surprising accomplishments.
She has over 250 paintings in public, corporate, and private collections. Her work has received multiple awards and acceptance into many juried exhibitions, from 2010 to present, the most recent at Muskegon Museum of Art Regional Exhibition where her painting received the Honorable Mention Award.
Nelson has been nationally-published with a cover story in Acrylic Artist Magazine (Fall 2016 issue), Women's Lifestyle Magazine (September 2016), multiple articles on ArtistsNetwork.com, and TV coverage.
Her work is represented by LaFontsee Galleries in Grand Rapids, MI and Douglas, MI, and Somebody's Gallery in Petoskey, MI.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
“It seems that the strongest triggers to visual memory are related to light, and the endless variables which comprise its nuances. Whenever I successfully express the distinctive, mysterious quality of light in the atmosphere, there is a good chance that viewers of my paintings have witnessed that same sight, and are brought to a place of their own memories.
My approach to each painting is only minimally planned, and could often be described as an "attack" with intuitive, quick, high-energy strokes. The canvases are generally extra large, and the tools are giant palette knives, bristle brushes, brayers, blocks of wood, and other random objects. The bold strokes express my preference for strong, masculine lines, no matter the subject.”
