Twelve Pieces by Contemporary Artist

                 Lisa Cunningham (Born 1964)

  Feature Artist Bio

By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the first of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by American painter

Lisa Cunningham (born 1964 in Pennsylvania, USA).

A classically-trained artist, Lisa earned degrees in fine art and art education at Keystone College and Kutztown University. Although her studio experience at the time focused on oil painting, she discovered the pastel medium years later and has made this her medium of choice for her current work. She continues to find inspiration for her work through travel and the simple things that exist in everyday life.

An award-winning artist, Lisa is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and also holds signature memberships in the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, the Connecticut Pastel Society and the Pastel Society of New Jersey. She is an elected member of the Salmagundi Club of New York,  the American Artists Professional League and a member of Audubon Artists.

Lisa's work is held in private and corporate collections in Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey and has been shown in local and international juried exhibitions as well as non-juried invitational shows.

                ARTIST'S STATEMENT

My current work explores the relationship between architecture and the landscape. The dramatic play of light and shadow cast on an old building façade or the late afternoon sun that presents itself along a tree-lined street can transform the ordinary into something inviting. Sunlight dancing on abstract shapes softened by the natural environment creates a balance for the eye to explore.

Many of my compositions are painted close up, inviting the viewer to experience my interpretation of that moment in time, to realize that the structures we build and dwell in have a story to tell...one that can be visualized through the use of color and light.”
