ARTIST'S STATEMENT
“I am inspired by my own travels. Places and people offer me new scenarios and feelings to pour into my painting. Europe, USA, Asia, all cultures suggest diversity, to which I want to be the eye witness. On the other hand, art is a lens that translates the outside world for me to understand it and connect to humanity.
My way to achieve this is either paint on location, or take notes and draw sketches when I travel. I strive to work by memory, which requires a deeper observation; I select only what really reso-nates within. If I use my own photos I draw an edited version of the subject. Then I decide my own color arrangement, according to my mood and pre-mix a limited number of colors on my palette. At this point the brushwork should be (or at least appear) the easiest and most effortless. In other words, the painting should paint itself!
Ultimately I want the viewer to get lost in a timeless story. It's my highest reward. And a bet every single time.”

Feature Artist Bio
By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by British painter
David Deamer (born 1963 in Deepcut, England).
David is a self-taught oil painter having inherited an ability to draw from a long family history of very fine artists. This artistic ability projected him straight from school into a career as a graphic designer with a London-based publishing company. The office environment however wasn’t his chosen direction and once the job evolved into that of sitting in front of a screen all day the game was up! The real goal for David was to paint.. outside.
From childhood he was absorbed by the natural world and, after a spell living on the Isle of Skye on Scotland’s west coast he found endless inspiration in the fast-changing light and atmosphere of the region. That inspiration has never left him; this is what David strived to pin down then and still wants to pin down today.
David believes that to truly capture that light and atmosphere one has to work from life, for him there’s simply no substitute for having the real thing in front of you as you work. This has remained David’s ongoing and enjoyable challenge to date. David now lives back on the Isle of Skye and finds no end of subject matter.
For David the aim now (irrespective of whether he sells or not) is to become a better painter. The drive remains strong..
David’s artistic influences are many but, amongst others and high on the list would have to be, U.K. painters David Curtis, Trevor Chamberlain, Edward Seago, Steven Ralph Alexander and Peter Brown. From the U.S., Ray Roberts, Jim Mackvicker, Frank Serrano, Kevin Macpherson and Tom Hughes.
