  Feature Artist Bio

By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by French painter

Patrice Latger (born 1959 in Pithiviers, France).

Patrice is a French pastellist painter living and working in Paris, France. Trained as a Graphic illustrator, he obtained a Higher National Diploma of Plastic Expression in 1984 with Honors, after five years of study at the Institute of Visual Arts in Orleans. From this time was born his passion for pastel.

Patrice has been employed as a graphic designer, illustrator and artistic director in various advertising agencies in Paris. Affiliated since 1997 with the House of Artists, his freelance graphic designer status allows him more freedom to indulge in pastel, a medium to which he has devoted himself totally to in recent years.

Influenced by 18th-century pastellists and impressionist painters, his first experiences with pastel were mainly portraits and nudes, then gradually his interest turned to the landscapes of his native region--from the skies and fields of Gâtinais, to the Loire in the Orléanais and later urban landscapes, mainly Paris with its parks and gardens or the banks of the Seine, without forgetting the seashores discovered during his excursions.

He takes advantage of his travels to accumulate experiences that will later serve as inspiration for his studio studies. Through shapes and colors the magic of creativity is revealed--the sensuality of the finger on the paper, the palette choices which become a painting, revealing intense emotions and the rediscovery of visions and sensations experienced.

At the end of 2000, Patrice created his website "Art of Pastel" which allows him to permanently expose his works in the form of thematic galleries where the variety of his subjects demonstrates the extent of his know-how.
