Feature Artist Bio
By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the first of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary
Croatian landscape painter Dominik Baricevic (born 1991 in Croatia).
Artist Dominik Baricevic has always had a fascination with wonderful scenes nature creates. Growing up on the hillside of Slavonski Brod, a lovely Croatian city, his childhood was filled with stunning light and atmosphere that he was always eager to capture. Despite this early inspiration, Dominik actively started his art endeavor only two years ago.
Dominik's second passion was computer programming, which resulted in his Master's degree in computer science from the University of Zagreb. Working as a game developer and being haunted by deadlines, he chose watercolors, a spontaneous medium that quickly captures a moment. The transparent and soft nature of watercolors provides a wide range of emotions and is a lifelong challenge to master.
Dominik's motives are usually landscapes in which he adds a bit of drama and emotion to depict the hidden beauty of an everyday scene. Influenced by modern watercolor masters such as Joseph Zbukvic, Chien Chung Wei and Ping Long, his style is very loose, focusing on connecting bigger shapes, clear tones and distinctive edges.
Being at the beginning of his art adventure, Dominik is motivated by finding his personal style and presenting a unique view of nature's beauty which will captivate people across the world.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
"Since a young age, I’ve always had a fascination with the wonderful scenes nature creates. The play of light and shadows on distant hills, villages emerging from the mist, crisp summer clouds and soft winter trails. It has an eternal beauty to it and I’ve decided to capture those moments and express my view as well as I can.
All of my work is done with watercolors as I enjoy its soft, transparent characteristics and unpredictable nature. It is a difficult medium to master, but it allows me to be spontaneous and capture the subject quickly which is very rewarding and fresh."
