Feature Artist Bio
By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary
American landscape painter Susan Klabak (born 1953 in Toledo, Ohio).
Born Susan Magsig, the artist attributes her appreciation for nature to her early years on a farm near Woodville, Ohio. Susan has made her home in Wisconsin for the past forty years. In 2009, Susan and her husband followed their dream and moved to a cottage on a pine-covered ridge overlooking a quiet lake in Wisconsin. The views of the lake and the nearby woods, fields, and natural areas provide endless inspiration for her pastel landscape paintings.
A self-taught artist, Susan works both plein air and from her studio using field sketches and her reference photos. Her work has been described as peaceful, moody, and emotional, often evoking in the viewer a memory of a particular time and place.
Susan's work has been selected for national and international juried exhibits. In August 2016, she was selected by the National Park Service for the Artist-in-Residence Program at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.
Her paintings hang in national and international corporate and private collections.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
“Some artists paint to startle or offend, but I paint what I find emotionally moving and usually that is a scene that creates a sense of awe for the beauty of the land and the Creator. When I have made a connection with the viewer by stirring an emotion or memory, or perhaps a new way of relating to the land, that for me is a successful painting.”
