Feature Artist Bio
By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary
American landscape painter Cory Wright (born 1976 in Florida, USA).
Florida artist Cory Wright graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1998 with a BFA degree in Painting. In 1996 she was accepted into the school's European Honors Program and afforded the unique opportunity to study for 9 months in Rome. Since then, in addition to being an art instructor and studio painter, she has had an accomplished career as a muralist, specializing in the tromp l’oiel technique, for over 25 years.
In 2011 Wright's artistic journey began to change course, however, when she discovered her passion for painting en plein air during a workshop in Italy. She soon began participating in and winning awards at various Paint Outs throughout the state of Florida. Her paintings are now held in numerous national and international private collections.
These days Cory can most often be found outdoors at her easel, capturing the ever-changing effects of light and shadows on the land and sea around her, or in her Art Studio & Gallery in Historic Palmetto.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
“The beauty of plein air painting for me, aside from the obvious delight of simply being outdoors and observing nature, is communicating my own sense of feeling about a particular place by painting the light of a given moment in time. It is during those moments of intense focus, while painting and contemplating the ever-changing effects of light from life, that I connect with an energy that comes from within.
I am driven by a desire to share the beauty I experience in my surroundings with others, to snatch a moment of changing light and reveal that fragment of time through the medium of oil paint. If my paintings elicit an emotional response from the viewer then I have done my job as an artist.”
