Feature Artist Bio
By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary French-American landscape painter Jean-Pierre Jacquet (born 1944 in Avignon, France).
Jean-Pierre is French-American painter and occasional film animator (some of his film animation work is viewable at www.jeanpierrejacquet.com). For many years, it was the other way around. Two of his films are part of two museums: Flagrant Délit is part of the MoMA in NYC, and Contrapunto is part of the Tanz Museum in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Jean-Pierre devotes most of his painting activities to "plein air" painting, or, as the French say, "peinture sur le motif", i.e "on-the- spot painting. He likes to paint what he sees, rather than what he knows, trying to uncover the hidden designs in his subject matters, whether straight nature scenes or urban landscapes. He is partial to free and bold brushstrokes which help him keep a certain "sketchiness" to his paintings. The artists influences are too numerous and eclectic to list in a biography.
Jean-Pierre is a Member of the Organisation of Plein Air Artists of America, the Oil Painters of America, the American Impressionist Society and the Salmagundi Club of New York.
