  Feature Artist Bio

By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the first of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by American

landscape painter Lisa Crisman (born 1958 in Illinois, USA).

Pastel artist Lisa Crisman's work is bold, vibrant, fun and exciting!  Upon viewing Crisman's work, you see her unusual color choices and how they affect your feelings about the landscape. Much of Crisman’s inspiration comes from the rural landscapes surrounding her childhood home in the midwest and the scenic Mississippi River which was near and often visited by Crisman’s family.

Crisman states, “As much as I am driven to recreate the emotional ties of these landscapes, I am also compelled to use bold and vibrant color combinations in my work.  For me these vivid color selections are exhilarating and add a sense of the magical and mystical that surrounded my childhood years in rural America.”

Also inspired by the Impressionists and Van Gogh in particular, Crisman developed her signature style and dynamic use of color for which she is known.

A third-generation artist, Crisman's training is comprised of independent and private study. She has studied with several acclaimed artists, including Richard McKinley, Jerry Brown and Albert Handell

Active in the Midwest Art community, Crisman is a member of Gateway Pastel Artists; Art St. Louis; Missouri Valley Impressionist Society; St. Louis Artists Guild,  The Greater St. Louis Art Association & is an Associate juried member of the Pastel Society of America.

Lisa's award-winning work has been acknowledged in numerous local and national juried fine art exhibitions.  You can see more of her work at LeftEarArt.com.
