By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the first of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary
American landscape painter Jimm Ross (born 1966 in Detroit, Michigan).

As a young boy living nearby the chaos of an urban jungle, Detroit Michigan, Jimm found solace from his favorite pal, Snoopy. Reading the comics and TV specials gave him an array of playful images that transformed some of life’s most basic dilemmas into charming characters. He began to draw and paint all of the images that beautified his concrete world, and even entered his favorite guys--Snoopy and Woodstock--in a 2nd grade art competition which garnered him first prize. It was just about that time, Jimm knew that creating images to express places of beauty, challenges of time and limitless light, was a mission he sought to pursue.
Schooling in Philadelphia, Jimm found the contrast between city and shore quite captivating. He dabbled in oils and acrylics for 15 years, often traveling to the Jersey shore in search of peaceful surroundings in which to capture. Even though Jimm has studied and with many renown pastelists, he is mainly a self-taught artist that places a great importance on developing his personal style.
Throughout his life, Jimm has had a passion for the world of art. He whole-heartedly committed to his medium after finally discovering pastel. For Jimm, using pastels is the most natural way of capturing the essence of form, place and time. He says there is a clarity using something directly from the earth, with no disconnect of brush or tool.
Now residing in historic Cape May NJ, a Victorian seaside town, offers Jimm innumerable opportunities to convey scenes that bring together the elements of structure and nature via the vibrancy of pastel.
Jimm is an Associate Member of Pastel Society of America. He has Yearly shows, which began in 2011, at The Mad Batter Carroll Villa Hotel in Cape May NJ. His exhibits and progress have been acknowledged nicely by local media. Small boutiques and shops have welcomed his work, and continue to provide their patrons with his pastel creations.
The Frame of Reference Gallery in West Chester, Pennsylvania has also exhibited, and contributed to, Jimm’s love of artistry.
