By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary American landscape painter Susan Whiteman (born 1959 in New York, USA).
Susan Whiteman is soft pastel artist and a juried member of the Pastel Society of America. She has taken workshops and studied for years with many professional artists, working in a variety of media; her professional degree is in health care, though she considers herself a full-time artist.
Susan’s influences include the Hudson River School, the Boston School, and Impressionist art. She enjoys the work and company of many contemporary artists.

Susan is a member of the cooperative gallery, NorthWind Fine Arts, in Saranac Lake, NY, and her work is shown there and at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, Main Street Gallery in Lake Placid, NY. Her pastel paintings have been shown throughout New York State, and she has been juried into many shows and plein air events. She teaches pastel classes, enjoying the opportunity to further the reach of the pastel medium.

She also has formal training in ballet, piano, and interior design, She lives part-time in Saranac Lake with her husband, birds and dogs.

“Art keeps you very humble. As I look through the years at my body of work, I see peaks and valleys in my art. I am always challenged by it.
For me, art provides an immediate learning experience…and a way to keep learning.”
