By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary American landscape painter Jane Wright Wolf (born 1947 in Bethesda, Maryland).

Jane grew up in Norfolk, Virginia. She showed an interest in art by three years old. At age eleven, her parents sent her to the Norfolk Museum of Arts and Sciences (now the Chrysler Museum) for art classes. There, Greta Matson Khouri, a member of the famous New York Ashcan School, saw Jane’s work. Mrs. Khouri suggested Jane join her adult art classes. Mrs. Khouri was the first significant artistic influence in Jane’s life.

Jane graduated from Trinity College, Washington, D.C. with a B.A. in English and Art History. She moved to New York and began serious art study at Brooklyn College in the Art Studio Graduate Program.  She studied under artists Philip Pearlstein and Lennart Anderson, whose teaching influenced the direction of her career.

In addition to the art study, Jane worked at the Brooklyn Museum Conservation Laboratory. In the lab, she saw x-rays of paintings done by great masters which showed their painting process: false starts, adjustments and the final painting that we see on exhibit today.

Jane currently lives in Connecticut.  For the past twenty years she has exhibited and won awards in national juried shows. Her work is in private collections in the United States, Holland and Italy.
