By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the first of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary American landscape and abstract painter Suzanne Leslie (born 1954 in San Luis Obispo, California).
Suzanne Leslie is a Bay Area artist who enjoys working in pastels, oils and acrylic. Her use of color is bold and deep and is the driving force of her artistic motivation. She enjoys painting landscapes from her travels and local Northern California scenes as well as losing herself in abstract style.
She enjoys using under paintings with her pastels and oils, with watercolor or acrylic paint as a base. She particularly enjoys using pastel ground or acrylic medium modeling paste to create a feeling of texture under a painting.
She is constantly contemplating and experimenting with her palette, using different painting surfaces and learning new ways to achieve a vision that she has for a scene or in the case of an abstract, an emotion.
From 2003 to 2009 Suzanne Studied impressionistic-style oil painting with Sue Grim-Langert, Brigitte Curt and Michael Kirschel. Since 2005 she has studied pastel painting and attended workshops with Terri Ford, Kim Lordier, Bill Cone, Clark Mitchell, Debra Stewart, Richard McKinley and Marla Baggetta.
She has placed in many prestigious juried shows and is a member of the Pastel Society of the West.
Suzanne finds art a perfect complement to her musical endeavors. She is an accomplished pianist and teacher and started painting in hopes of finding a creative outlet during a period of injury, when she was unable to play piano. She quickly found that making art filled the emptiness she was experiencing.
Suzanne continues to expand her repertoire, mentoring with renowned artists and experimenting with multi media and new modalities.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
"The attraction to lush landscapes, beautiful oceans and expressive skies drew me to painting as a means of self expression.
The mediums of pastel and oil best describe to me nature's luscious palette. I continue to explore mediums, styles and subject matter to challenge myself.
I find painting a wonderful compliment to playing and teaching piano, which I have done most of my life. I feel fortunate to be able to enjoy both equally."
