The Cyber Art Show
By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of three
12-piece Exhibitions of works by American contemporary Impressionist painter Kathleen Kalinowski (born 1958 in Big Rapids, Michigan).
Kathleen is known for her representational landscape paintings with impressionistic color and brushwork. Much of her work consists of plein-air painting, directly from nature, a source of reference for larger studio paintings. She has been working full-time as a professional fine artist for over 25 years using oil and pastel as her mediums.
She is inspired by the landscapes of her native Michigan in all seasons and favorite places from her travels. Her home and studio is just north of Grand Rapids, MI in a rural area close to farms, rolling hills, and plenty of rivers and streams. She often finds water as her inspiration including the shorelines of the Great Lakes and northern Michigan including remote areas of the Upper Peninsula.
Her traditional approach to working is inspired by past Masters' works by the likes of John Carlson, Innis, Monet, Edward Hopper and Mary Cassatt. Contemporary favorite artists are Clyde Aspevig, Richard Schmid, Quang Ho, Russell Chatham, Steven Duren and Katherine Stats.
Kathleen is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America; a member of the Oil Painters of America; a charter member of Great Lakes Pastel Society; Plein Air Artists of West Michigan and Grand Valley Artists.
She teaches both oil and pastel in ongoing classes and several workshops a year. Her award-winning work has been accepted into prestigious juried regional and national exhibitions and is in numerous private and corporate collections. She is currently represented by three galleries and is in the process of looking for another gallery outside of Michigan.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
“Painting is my passion! I paint to express myself and feel compelled to share my inspiration when I see something beautiful. The many years I have spent plein air painting has taught me to trust my artistic intuition when interpreting nature. My intent is to capture the sense of the place, the relationship of elements, and quality of light, atmosphere, and color harmonies to create a visual poetry that I seek to express in my work. My hope is that the viewer will be left with a feeling of pleasure and another understanding of how beautiful our world can be.”
