By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the first of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary American landscape painter Tamar Rudavsky (born 1951 in Brooklyn, New York).
Tamar has a flourishing career as a professional philosopher -- her research in medieval philosophy has yielded notable publications, and her teaching at Ohio State is ongoing. In 2004 she embarked upon yet another quest (the classic mid-life crisis?), learning how to draw and paint, and signed up for adult classes at the Cultural Arts Center (Columbus OH) and CCAD. In addition, she has been fortunate to study with some of the finest teachers, having taken classes and workshops with Chuck Marshall, Marc Hanson, Michael McEwan, Fred Fochtman, John Cosby, along with long-time plein-air teachers Joe Lombardo, and most recently, Mary Jane Ward.
Painting is now indispensable, and enhances Tamar's
'professional life'; the two go hand in hand. She has been fortunate to be able to travel overseas fairly often for conferences, and has used those opportunities to paint, most recently in Provence, Brussels, Amsterdam, Jerusalem and Greece.
Professional memberships include Ohio Plein Air Society (OPAS -- membership secretary & trustee) and Central Ohio Plein Air (COPA). Her paintings hang at Turner Studio and Gallery, as well as in occasional shows and private collections.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
"Philosophers talk often about the "essential nature” of things. Artists are also concerned with, and try to capture, the "essence" of what they are seeing, within the context of the inexorable flow of time. Painting, and in particular painting "en plein-air,” is a way of experiencing this flow. Time. Place. Space -- all interacting.
Painting, both plein air and studio, allows for a high level of meditative awareness, and a studied appreciation of the outdoors.”
