By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the first of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary American landscape painter Barbara Reich (born 1961 in Michigan, USA).

Barbara Reich is a national award-winning artist specializing in soft pastel, a medium that is very exciting and beautifully complex. Capturing moments, subjects, and strong visual concepts, with the near pure pigments of soft pastel is exhilarating, and sharing this knowledge with others is something she is passionate about.

​

 

Barbara enjoys both studio and plein air painting, working from life as often as possible. She regularly exhibits in local, regional, and national exhibitions, and finds participating in plein air paint-outs to be uniquely challenging and rewarding. Early instruction instilled in her the intense desire to draw better, paint color with more emotion, and to always hunt and study the changing light. More recently, knowledge gained from several IAPS Conventions, self-study, as well as a recent workshop with Richard McKinley have helped to continue her forward momentum.

Barbara is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of the West Coast. She is also a member of the Great Lakes Pastel Society, Associate member of the Pastel Society of America, and has memberships with the Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors, Crooked Tree Arts Center, Glen Arbor Arts Association, and several others.

 

Barbara is represented by Hanni Gallery in Harbor Springs, and Mullaly’s 128 Gallery in Elk Rapids, Michigan.
