By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the first of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary

American landscape painter Roberta Condon (born 1957 in Illinois, USA).

Artist Roberta Condon has been drawn to the creation of art and the landscape from an early age. Growing up in the country in Northern Illinois on some old farmland along the Fox River, the themes of water, flocks of geese, and the Midwest's abundance of natural beauty and change of seasons is reflected in her work.

Condon attended Rockford College, and the University of Wisconsin but considers herself largely self-taught, stating, "it's the work you do with contemporary masters, the continual observation of other artists, the contemplation and observance of your outside surroundings, and the time in front of the easel that is the real teacher."

Condon began painting in the medium of watercolor, and the last three years has brought her attention to the beautiful brilliant medium of soft pastel. She is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, an active member in the Wisconsin Pastel Artists, and has achieved award-winning status as an artist, competing in international shows.

When asked what the future brings Condon replied "More work. I would like to begin to use my work as more than observance and observation, and begin to incorporate activism and documentation." Her next series "Electric Bonsai" will focus on the sculpting, scarring, and survival of trees that have been mutilated by chain saws clearing the path for electric wires.

               ARTIST'S STATEMENT

"When I hit age 45, I was confronted by the fragility of life in the form of a skirmish with cancer, and the 9/11 tragedy. This glimpse of mortality led me to a two-week conversation between myself and God in the canyons of Nevada. A direct result of this conversation was a return to my art and painting. In 2015 I opened my own gallery and studio in Portage, WI."
