By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the first of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary American landscape painter Mary Giacomini (born 1961 in St. Paul, Minnesota).

Mary earned her BFA from the University of Minnesota but has continued her education with classes, workshops and painting with her peers.  Her art is best described as somewhere between Impressionistic and Realistic-depending on the subject matter and mood. Her representational subjects are varied but with one thing in common; they are all peaceful and pleasant to look at. She finds her art calming and wishes to spread that mood to her viewers.

In 2014 she plein air painted in Tuscany.  She loves the art of Richard Schmid, Kevin McPherson, Van GoghVermeer, Sargent and countless others.

Mary has been a professional artist for 17 years now.  She paints proficiently in oil, watercolor, pastel and acrylic but favors oil.  She paints the Colorado landscape she lives in but also loves the challenge of figure and portrait painting. She is bringing together her love of plein air painting and figurative with a new type of painting she calls 'plein air people'If an exciting subject warrants it, she'll have fun carving oil paint with a palette knife. She compares palette-knife painting to "frosting a cake."

Mary continues to improve her painting skills with the Plein Air Artists of Colorado and is a Member of the Oil Painters of America and the Thompson Valley Art League in Loveland, Colorado.  She teaches art to adults at the Loveland Museum Gallery as well as Solvent-free oil painting and watercolor out of her studio.

Mary's art can be seen at the Grand Lake Art Gallery, Grand Lake, CO, the Lincoln Gallery, Loveland, CO, the Cultural Art Center of Estes Park, CO, as well as a variety of national and regional shows.

               ARTIST'S STATEMENT

"I paint peaceful places I'm inspired by.  My subject matter is often  the Colorado Rocky mountains I live near, but also could be other places I was inspired by and would love to return to.  My favorite observation from viewers about my art is when  they tell me they get a peaceful feeling from looking at my paintings.
