By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by Canadian landscape
painter Nancy Overbury (born 1970 in Quebec, Canada).

Nancy Overbury is best known for using thick, buttery layers of impasto to create texture and movement in her paintings. She takes her inspiration from the landscapes of southern Quebec and New England. She uses animals and certain traits of nature as a symbol to create a link between reality and the emotions of the artist. It uses thick translucent layers of impasto acrylic that expresses dimension and movement in the painting. She creates scenes from Southern Quebec and Eastern Canada, incorporating their local and personal histories to capture their beauty.

Overbury lives and works in Pointe-Claire, Quebec. Though she acquired her DEC in Fine Arts from John Abbott College and a BFA from Concordia University, she considers her most valuable art lessons were learned while studying a summer at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Nîmes, France. There she discovered how the quality of light and sky influence mood and motion.

Overbury has worked as a professional designer creating lines in the fashion and beauty industries for over 20 years.
Nancy is a member of the Lakeshore Artists Association, Beaconsfield Artists Association. Her paintings are found in private and corporate collections in Canada, the U.S.A. and Europe.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT

“I paint using acrylic and medium to build deep brilliant texture. My works are created using heavy buttery layers of impasto and thin translucent glazes of paint, applied with spatulas and found objects to emulate depth and to capture movement and feeling. Each edge is treated to create an organic look to the sides, obscuring the hard straight edges of the boards.”
