By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by American landscape

painter Marsha Hamby Savage (born 1949 in Georgia, USA).

The inspiration for Marsha's art comes from a love of nature and outdoor activity. Some of her earliest memories are of taking off shoes and wading in a creek, picking up a pretty rock, looking at the moss and running her hands over it. There's something about moss that just makes her want to feel it. She creates paintings from the Southeastern US, but also enjoy painting plein air in other places she visits. She loves to spend a little time walking and exploring each new location before starting to paint. It allows her to soak up some of the color partnerships found there; the way they integrate and harmonize with each other is usually first in her thought process.

Marsha has been painting for over 40 years and won numerous awards at regional, National and International Juried Exhibitions. Most recently, she was awarded “Second Place” by Judge Dawn Whitelaw at the 2016 BRMAA/SAAG National Show for a her painting, “The Ridge in Red.” Marsha has been featured in "The Guide to Georgia” several times, one of which was her plein air oil painting, “Fall Festival” on their 2014 Spring Cover. The painting “Willeo Park Misty” won “Best of Show” at the 2010 Great Chattahoochee Paint Out in Roswell GA, an "Award of Distinction" at the 2012 Women Painters of the Southeast First Annual Show in Jacksonville, FL and was juried into the 2013 IAPS 19th Juried Exhibition in Albuquerque, NM. The painting, “Boat House Roses” was awarded “First Place” at the 2011 Madison GA Paint Out. Marsha also was honored to win a Purchase Award from the Buford Historical Museum for a painting of their town at the Buford Tannery Plein Air Festival. These are just a few highlights of the paintings that have won awards.

Several of Marsha's paintings were chosen for the Georgia State Capital, offices of David Ralston, Speaker of the House: a 48x36" oil painting, and two smaller paintings. There were four large oil paintings commissioned for the Northeast Georgia Regional Hospital in Gainesville, GA, which are installed in the Surgical Wing waiting room. The same company also commissioned last year one large oil, 30"x66" for a new wing of a hospital in Braselton, GA. Marsha has paintings in corporate and private collections across the United States.

Marsha was also honored to choose 60 colors for the "Marsha Savage Southeast Landscape Set" by Terry Ludwig Pastels. She is represented by Frameworks Gallery in Marietta GA, Magnolia Art Gallery in Greensboro GA, Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Assoc. in Blue Ridge GA, and Xanadu Gallery in their On-Line Gallery. Please support these galleries -- visit and let them know you want to see work by Marsha Savage!

Marsha plans several workshops each year and participates in plein air festivals and paint-outs as often as possible. She is asked frequently to give programs at arts organizations on her painting techniques, marketing and how she grew and manages her art career. Demonstrating at arts organizations and galleries several times each year is a real treat for Marsha. She has studied with many talented and wonderfully giving artists!

Marsha is a Signature Member of the Women Painters of the Southeast and of the Southern Appalachian Artist Guild/Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association, Member of Excellence in the Southeastern Pastel Society, and an Associate Member of American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America, and the International Plein Air Painters. Marsha has attained Master Circle Status in the International Association of Pastel Societies in 2013, and received the Gold Medallion at the convention in June 2015.

Twelve Pieces by Contemporary Artist

                     ARTIST'S STATEMENT

“My philosophy and favorite saying is “It’s the journey, not the destination!” As the artist, capturing the emotion of a place, recognition, or a feeling that one can identify with, is important to me. To make you see what I have seen is part of my objective; but to have you feel something when looking at the painting is more my intention … I call it “viewer participation in the painting.” So, the journey of the mind is as important as the journey of the feet!”
