By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary American landscape painter Carmen Corrigan (born 1940 in New York, New York).

Carmen began her art education at home where, under the guidance of her mother who was a dress maker and designer, they created bridal gowns and special occasion dresses.  And while her mother did the assembling of patterns, Carmen finished each project with one-of-a-kind detailed beadwork.  Their clients still pass down those gowns to their own daughters.

Carmen attended the School of Art and Design, School of Visual Arts, the Vytlacil School of Painting and Sculpture - campus of the Art Students League NYC  (of which Carmen is a Life Member) - and her education continues to this day, organizing group shows in hospitals and nursing homes.

Recipient of many commissions and awards, she has exhibited in numerous prestigious group and solo venues. Among those, the Salmagundi Club non-members juried exhibition.  Her works appear in private and corporate collections, including:

New York’s Montefiore Hospital, Tudor Investments of Connecticut and Long Island, the Women’s Health Initiative, Valley Forge for the US Navy, and a prized commission to do a portrait of baseball great Joe DiMaggio.

Carmen lives and works in the borough of the Bronx, New York.  She is included in the Bronx Artist Documentary Project, film and book, featuring 80 artists and 30 photographers who also live and work in the Bronx.  She is included in the Bronx 200, a database of 200 Bronx artists.

Carmen is also a sculptor and is currently working on a series dedicated to endangered and threatened animals in the wild.
