By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary American landscape painter Lindy Wiese (born 1958 in Wichita, Kansas).

Lindy is a native Kansan and a former school psychologist for the Wichita Public Schools for 17 years. Although her passion for art began in childhood, she actively pursued painting over 10 years ago. She has taken many courses from the Wichita Center for the Arts, City Arts, and Artist Central in charcoal, abstract painting, acrylics, watercolor, and plein air.

She draws her inspiration from the famous impressionist Claude Monet, and more recent contemporary artists such as Gehard Richter, Sally Cummings Shisler, James C. Leonard, and the late Lousia McElwain, with her style self-described as contemporary impressionism. She prefers to work with acrylics and a pallet knife, with the use of thick application to add depth and contrast to her paintings. She loves to work with vibrant colors and plays with various color combinations to invoke brightness and enthusiasm.

Lindy has exhibited her pieces in various venues, which have included the Botanica Gardens, Century II Concert Hall, the Annual Book and Art Fair, the Kansas Masonic Home, Green Acres Market Place, Riordan Clinic, Water Walk, and Artist Central Art Gallery. She was awarded Honor of Merit in acrylics Student/Faculty Exhibition 2013 at the Wichita Center for the Arts.

When she is not painting Lindy enjoys yoga, nature, and time spent with her family.

               ARTIST'S STATEMENT

"Painting is my escape from reality and it allows me to visit the things and places that I desire to be a part of my life, without the need to leave my home. I gain my knowledge and memory of these places through visiting and seeing them.

From the spectacular to the mundane, every experience in life deserves to be remembered, and while you view my artwork, I hope to share with you the experiences I have gained."
