The Cyber Art Show
By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece Exhibitions of works by Canadian contemporary Impressionist painter A.S. Helwig (born 1962 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada).
From an early age Alice drew and painted. In fact, she has painted in acrylics since she was 14 years old in the coulee hills close to her family home.
Helwig took a two-year commercial art program at the Medicine Hat College and then a Bachelor of Education Degree (with Distinction) from the University of Lethbridge. Looking for adventure she moved to Fox Lake, a small remote Indian village in Northern Alberta. There she taught English and art while maintaining a studio in her home.
Helwig attended the Banff Centre of Arts in a self-directed residency in 2008 and 2005.
Presently residing in Calgary, Helwig remains an art educator, and a studio artist. You might have seen her acrylic painting show on Shaw TV called Canvas. Recently her painting “Summer Cottonwoods” was published in the Acrylic Works The Best of Acrylic Painting Book.
Alice's award-winning work is included in many private and corporate collections. Her work is represented by Mountain Galleries in Jasper, Banff and Whistler, and Blue Rock Gallery in Black Diamond.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
"I am working with the imagery of dawn and twilight to capture the awareness we have at that moment between waking and sleeping. The imagery that I have been working with has become spiritual and dreamlike. The images are quick glances we have of the landscape as we move through it."
