"Bringing the Museum to You"

By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece Exhibitions of works by American contemporary Impressionist painter Julia Lesnichy (born 1968 in St. Petersburg, Russia).

 

Originally from Moscow, Russia, Julia received a BA in Linguistics, majoring in English and German at the Moscow Linguistics University.

 

Drawing animals was her usual pastime when she was a five-year old child - she became fond of sketching cats, lions and bears from animal books. In 1998, she began taking drawing and oil-painting classes in Russia. In 1999, she came to the USA with her husband and took pastel and life-drawing classes in Charlottesville, Va. In 2001, she took classes in oil painting with Lois Griffel,  in Provincetown, Ma. In 2001, before returning to Russia to continue perfecting her en plein painting style.
 

Julia paints landscapes and outdoor still-lifes in diverse techniques, in oil, oil pastel and

dry pastel. She finds her inspiration in nature, with its elusive beauty being an endless source of excitement for her. She was immensely influenced by works of French impressionists – Monet, Renoir and Sisley and American impressionist painters – Hassam, Cassatt, Robinson, Twachtman and the Cape Cod School of Art in Provincetown, MA.  

 

Julia's art is in private collections in Russia, the USA and Italy.

 

Currently, Julia lives with her family in Crozet, Va.
