The Cyber Art Show
By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature a 12-piece Exhibition of works by Brazilian contemporary Impressionist painter Maria Nash (born 1968 in Goias, Brazil).
The youngest of three children born to Mr. and Mrs. Cavalcanti de Souza, Maria’s artistic talents were evident early in life. However, her family did not encourage her to pursue a fine art career. Maria had a conservative father who had other plans for his daughter. He knew that the difficult economy in Brazil at that time did not offer good prospects for artists.
Diverted from her dream, Maria at the age of 18 became a well-known fashion designer with her name published in local and national fashion magazines. While this was a big
accomplishment, she still wanted to fulfill her own dreams. So she abandoned the fashion industry to pursue a career as a fine artist.
The following 10 years were long and difficult for Maria, but nevertheless, she kept her dreams alive and took her self-instruction seriously. Her desire to achieve a high level of expertise in the fine arts remained her constant objective. Late nights, early mornings, struggle and frustration did not stop this artist in her pursuit of excellence.
In 1999, leaving behind her family and friends, Maria moved to New Jersey with just her faith in the Lord and her dreams. This decision was difficult, but it opened up a new world to her. Now she could frequently visit the Metropolitan and other museums in the tri-state area.
Ms. Nash presently resides in Rockaway N.J. with her husband and son who encourage and admire her work and determination.
Currently Maria's artwork is praised and collected by many art enthusiasts, as she continues to grow as an artist and as a person, becoming well-known in the art world. Although she never received a formal education, she has realized a high level of skill through workshops, museums, and demo presentations with such leading artists as Scott Burdick, Nancy Guzik, Richard Schmid and others.
Maria's works are displayed and admired in public and private collections around the world.
