  Feature Artist Bio

By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by French painter

Pascal Gauthier (born 1960 in France).

Pascal Gauthier, lives in the Val-de-Marne in France and has been interested in painting since 1997, starting with watercolors. From the beginning of his pictorial adventures, he turned towards the landscape. Quite quickly, he chose the oil medium to express the strength of the colors using the knife

After painting a few years, he embarked on the path of the abstract on large formats. For ten years his paintings were largely inspired by the Franco-Chinese painter Zao Wou-ki.

In 2015, he discovered during an exhibition of Pastellists in France the pastel world and decided to experiment. During his travels in the French countryside he photographed the landscape for reference to work quietly in the studio.

Student of Lorenzo Rappelli, Italian master pastellist and Violette Chaminade master pastellist, he particularly likes the undergrowth, the work of lights and counter-days.

                     ARTIST'S STATEMENT

To paint is to live a unique experience, that of creating with joy and suffering in front of the leaf. But first of all it is to interpret. I paint where I want to be and it is then that the escape operates its charm. The canvas must sublimate the photograph and take the viewer to the dream.
