By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the first of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by American painter Nancy Angelini Crawford (born 1960 in Massachusetts, USA).

Born and raised in Massachusetts, Nancy Angelini Crawford

enjoyed drawing and painting at a young age.  As a young adult she moved to Newport, RI, which deepened her love of the ocean and harbors. She aimed to keep working in a creative job and learned the art of glass blowing. In 1979, this new career took her to Florida to work through the winter.

Nancy’s adventurous spirit did not end there. Soon after, in the early 80s, she moved to the farthest end of the country to live a pioneer life in Alaska. Her love of the light and movement on the ocean and harbors filled with boats soon also included Alpenglow Mountains, glaciers and endless fields of fireweed. Her life in Alaska turned to building homes and working to raise her family

When her youngest child graduated, rather than retire, she changed careers and became a full-time artist. After residing in Wasilla, Alaska for over 30 years, her children raised, Nancy began taking local watercolor classes. It was in the 2008 that she took her first plein air oil workshop when Southern California artist, Jeff Horn visited Anchorage to teach. She

then moved on to study with contemporary masters such as Kevin MacPhersonDave SantillanesColley Whisson as well as others. Since then Nancy has continued to follow her traveling spirit and has taken numerous classes at the Scottsdale Artist School, the California Art Club and with other nationally and internationally-acclaimed contemporary masters.

Nancy’s painting, teaching and the sale of originals have since expanded from her small town in Alaska to across the United States, Italy, Greece and Australia. Her informal training and wide variety of input has helped her to interpret the landscape with the sense of feeling that took her breath away when she first saw the moment.

Her work has been coined as “emotional realism” and while she continues to travel to paint new locations, her paintings continue to show her love of light, landscapes and people. Without a formal education Nancy continues traveling to teach, paint and take workshops, always s
triving to attain the next level of sophistication. No matter what the medium, (watercolor, pastel or oil) her goal is to know the techniques well, apply them, and then embellish with her own style.

Twelve Pieces by Contemporary Artist

                        ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Painting is my music and I must sing every day. Seeing the light and beauty of a moment becomes a passionate challenge to me. I don't want to just look at it, but rather capture it and share what I see with others. I feel success when someone tells me how they feel looking at my work.”
