By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary Norwegian landscape painter Tom Simonsen (born 1956 in Skiptvet Østfold, Norway).

A native of Skiptvet, in  Østfold county, Norway, Tom is a self-taught Impressionist painter. He was awarded a Candidatus magisterii (Latin Candidate of Arts) in science and earned a Graduate Certificate in Education as well as one in Construction from Technical College.

Whether in blowing snow in the mountains, breakers beach, reflections in the water or on a tree trunk in the forest, Tom paints plein air year round. He especially enjoys painting after winter, in early spring and autumn, when the landscapes are at their most colorful.  The inspiration and subjects of his paintings are mainly drawn from Hedalsfjellene, eastern forests, outer Oslofjord and the North Sea in Denmark. 

Tom owns his own gallery and workshop in his home on Henstad, Engskleiva 67 in Skiptvet. In addition to his various exhibitions, the gallery is open by appointment.

                                            Upcoming Event

Tom will be teaching a course in oil painting, "Painting in the Garden" the weekend June 4th and 5th, 2016, at 11: 00-15: 30. 

The courses are suitable for beginners and slightly advanced users who want a new approach.

Courses in oil paint using brush and paint knife out in the garden. If it is raining we paint in my yard. About 9 hours total. Price 1200, - excl material, including serving.

Challenges to be addressed will be the contrasts between light and shadow, color, little composition, transitions and linear perspective.T he themes are transferable to other subjects such as landscapes, buildings and interiors.
