By permission of the artistThe Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece Exhibitions of works by British landscape artist Teresa Allen, (born 1957 in Staffordshire, UK).

Teresa resides in Surrey, UK. She has had an interest in art from an early age attending the Warwickshire School of Art and training in jewelry and design.

In her mid 20’s she embarked on the expat life and attended the Alfred Glassell School of Art, Houston, Texas, where she attended classes with Dick Wray and Sandi Zilker. From Texas, she moved to The Hague, Holland and studied life drawing at the Vrie Academie.

Teresa moved to London in the mid 1980s and had two children and in 1990 re-embarked on her travels and lived in Budapest, Hungary for three years. She attended an art group, which was tutored by American artist Pam Heller. Upon returning to the UK, she raised her children and as they became independent was able to focus on painting. Originally starting out as an oil painter, she now works primarily in pastels and acrylics. Her pastels are under-painted with acrylic ink/watercolour and layered in a traditional method using hard pastels first and finishing with soft pastels.

The artist's principal influences are Monet, Cezanne and Redon. She has been fortunate to attend workshops with Tony Allain and Felicity House (Pastel Society UK) and she admires the work of Karen Margulis, Richard McKinley and Heather Harmin and also their mentorship in pastel. Most of her work is conducted in the studio but she is a “fair weather” Plein Air painter during the summer months. Her favourite places to paint are the Silver Coast and Alentejo regions of Portugal.

Teresa currently exhibits with Tadworth Art Group, Surrey and other past exhibitions include Banstead Art Group, Surrey Open Studios, Sutton Arts Network and Denbies Vineyard, Surrey.

                       ARTIST'S STATEMENT

"I have enjoyed painting from an early age and my work focuses on landscapes and seascapes.

"My inspiration is sunlight and the colours. I am interested in the poetry of the landscape, the fleeting light as it hits the land, the colours, shapes and patterns it creates on the landscape around us.”
