The Cyber Art Show

By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the first of two 12-piece Exhibitions of works by American landscape artist Lani Browning (born 1952 in Honolulu, Hawaii).
Lani Browning, an award-winning plein air oil painter for over twenty five years, is known for her masterly skill with colors, and the soft tonalism of her paintings. Her travels around the country and abroad, and her love of the land have contributed to her focus on the landscape.
She was one of ten plein-air painters invited to paint at the Forbes family Chateau de Balleroy in Normandy France, with a Fall 2005 exhibit “Normandie en Plein Air” at The Forbes Gallery, NYC, NY. She has also been a juried artist in the popular “Paint Annapolis” and "Plein Air Easton" competitions. In 2008 Lani and other members of The Washington Society of Landscape Painters embarked on a partnership with The Nature Conservancy - an exciting project in which the artists painted the sanctuaries that have been established to preserve rare and endangered species and ecosystems in the Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC areas. In 2009, another partnership was formed with The Chesapeake Bay Foundation, with an exhibition at The University of Maryland University College in 2010.
Selected exhibitions of her paintings have been shown at South Street Gallery and the Academy Art Museum in historic Easton, MD; The Art League Gallery and The Atheneum (Fine Arts Association of Virginia) in Alexandria, VA.; American Painting Fine Art Gallery in Washington DC.; The Metropolitan Gallery in Arlington, VA.; Maryland Hall of the Arts in Annapolis, MD., and the Southern Vermont Center for the Arts in Manchester VT.
Paintings can also be seen in group shows with The Washington Society of Landscape Painters.
Lani is the archivist for this historic Society and currently working on a book about Society members dating back to 1913.
In 2014, Lani’s work was published in Gary Pendleton’s book “100 Plein Air Painters of the Mid-Atlantic”.
She resides on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
“It is the greatest challenge to me to try and capture the spirit and feel of the places I visit with my box of colors, brushes and canvas. Standing there, out in the wind, the sun, even the bugs . . . You are IN your painting and you just go for it. . .trusting your eye, trusting your instincts, hoping all the things you’ve learned ride with you...and if you’re lucky a plein air painting is born.”
