By permission of the artistThe Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature a 12-piece Exhibition of works by Canadian landscape artist Bob Pennycook (born 1949 in Ontario, Canada).

Bob’s inspiration comes from his surroundings. Since moving to a rural area in Southeastern Ontario, he only needs to step outside his front door to find source material. He lives on the edge of the Canadian Shield with almost endless lakes, rivers, rock outcroppings, minerals and rolling hills (and bears!!).

Art was a passion throughout Bob's early years

His earliest oil-painting memory is from his teenage years, when he painted a gift of oil landscapes for his then-girlfriend (now his wife).

Although Bob has attended the Ontario College of Art (now OCAD University); has minored in art at university, and has taken many college art courses, he is basically a self-taught artist

Bob works primarily in acrylics but often switches to oils, particularly for plein-air work. He also creates landscape monoprints and linocuts using slow- drying acrylics as his medium.

Although Bob has won several awards for his work and has been part of juried shows at the Salmagundi Club in New York and the Southeastern Pastel Association in Atlanta, he spent several years at the turn of the century designing and teaching decorative painting. He taught decorative art throughout North America, was featured in several magazines on an ongoing basis and published 12 “how-to” books.

Bob is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists, an artist member of Carfac and an associate artist member of the California Art ClubHe also licenses his work and is currently represented by Parcai Designs in Dallas.

               ARTIST'S STATEMENT

“I’m inspired by the landscape that surrounds me. My art is an expressive interpretation of the shapes, colors, textures, rhythm and patterns of that landscape. Using a personal approach to color, I build layers of patterns through soaking, scraping, wiping and direct painting techniques.  Color provides the emotional impact; the techniques complete the story."
