By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece Exhibitions of works by German landscape artist Brunhild Schwertner (born 1958 in Jena, Germany).
It all began when Brunhild was a child. She was always fascinated by color and even during her school years spent more time painting than the other children. She always wanted to discover new things in nature and put them down on paper. For her very first pictures she used pencil, colored pencil and watercolors. Van Gogh's paintings and his life fascinated her. She, too, wanted to paint powerful and expressive pictures. She completed her first oil painting at the age of 18.
Painting was Brunhild’s calling and she found her identity in painting. For this reason, she declined a formal art education, not wanting to have her gift spoiled by art professors. Without formal training, Brunhild is able to paint independently and without accomodation. Even today, she still considers herself a "loner."
Brunhild finds her motifs in nature-landscapes illuminated by light. Monet's paintings have influenced her Impressionistic style.
The artist has exhibited extensively over the years in the Wurzburg and Kassel area.
