By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by American landscape painter Diana Shearon (born 1954 in Georgia, USA).

Drawing and painting are life passions for Diana. As a little girl she would beg to be given the white butcher paper wrappings from her mother on which to draw and color for hours. Her first drawing lesson was in 1st grade in a rural schoolroom when Mrs. Olsen drew an elephant on the chalkboard using letters of the alphabet. Diana was thrilled to learn how to take those lines to create an image.

As a teenager, her frequent request for Christmas was a set of acrylic paints from the Sears and Roebuck Catalog (which she finally received when she was sixteen). Diana attended the University of Arkansas in the late 90's and achieved her dream of an academic art degree. While taking refresher classes at the Arkansas Art Center she discovered two books-- one by Sherrie McGraw and another by David Leffel. Their abstract realism approach to drawing and painting was exactly the technique Diana wished to develop in her own work.

Diana returned to fine art after 20 years as a professional freelance graphic designer. Working in the graphic design and photography field was been rewarding, but returning to the studio to become a full-time painter fulfilled her dream. Since her return she as sought out national-level instruction and competes in regional and national competitions. The last several years have been very exciting - workshops with Sherrie McGraw (four), David Leffel, Jackie Kamin, Greg Kruetz, Rose Franzten, Roger Dale Brown, Tim Tyler and Guido Frick have helped her art progress in both landscape work and studio work. A wonderful week at Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia with Stephen Early and Darren Kingsley helped strengthen her figurative work. Plein air painting has become a particularly favorite genre. Diana continues her weekly plein air instruction with Victoria Harvey OPA of Nantucket, MA.

Diana is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America, American Impressionist Society, American Women Artists, Memphis/Germantown Art League and a signature member of the Arkansas League of Artists. She has been juried into multiple regional and national competitions most recently the Missouri Valley Impressionist Society 4th National Exhibition 2015 in St. Louis, MO and the Memphis Germantown Art League 2015 National Exhibition in Cordova, TN. She received 1st Place in the Arkansas League of Artist June 2015 Competitive.

            ARTIST'S STATEMENT

"I have grown to love painting out of doors, so the majority of my landscapes are painted on site. Some days it is hard to go out into the elements; rain can be particularly difficult. On those quiet days in my studio I search through my still life shelves and set up something that pleases my eye or work from one of my landscape references.

As an emerging artist I have worked very hard to develop a sound painting foundation to help my work become stronger."
