Feature Artist Bio
By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the first of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by British landscape
painter Michael Salt (born 1955, in Stourbridge, England, UK).
Michael Salt is a well-established professional Artist. He studied at Stourbridge School of Art, after which he left Stourbridge to work as a studio technician, spending time in Wales and Jersey.
Mike returned to the Midlands to concentrate on his painting, working with most media but principally oils. He tries to use colour and light to create an atmosphere or mood rather than for his painting to look like a recording.
Love of the countryside meant landscape painting became his first love, especially if water was involved, often giving his paintings the mood and light that the english countryside is famous for. You will find many local scenes from around Worcestershire, along with other neighbouring counties.
Water scenes play a significant part in his work, and he focuses on the reflections and movements of this element. You will not only find scenes from around the waterways of Worcestershire, but also many dramatic Seascapes from around the country.
Mike does a large amount of commission work, paintings of a favourite scene or a portrait of a loved one. Another area that Mike is becoming known for are, his one-to-one lessons at the studio at Jinney Ring Craft Centre, these are becoming increasingly popular, with many of his students returning again and again.
