By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by American 

landscape painter Sharon Abbott-Furze (born 1941, in Indiana, USA).

The major influence in Sharon's art is her fascination with nature and people. For many years, she and her husband had a boat at Ilwaco, Washington, and spent many hours on the ocean, giving her ample opportunity to study the movement, power, moods and light of the Oregon and Washington coast. Her children, grandchildren and now great grandchildren provide constant inspiration and stories for her paintings as well. For the last three years she participated in gallery plein air events and developed a love of this challenging expression and now participates in other plein air events quite frequently.    

 

Born in Indiana and raised in Ashland, OR, she now lives in Vancouver, WA where she has a studio in her home. Although she has done some pieces in acrylics, she prefers working in oils and has an array of brushes but mainly uses only 4 favorites along with  several palette knives that she used to create her first paintings. Her other tools include just about anything she can think of to create a desired effect - her fingers almost as much as her brushes, Q-tips rags, sponges, toothbrushes for starters. 

 

Sharon's paintings are in collections throughout the United States, Switzerland, Canada and Italy and several of her figurative paintings were used in the past at Portland Oregon Street of Dreams.

 

"The Price of Freedom" was published in the 2015 Art Edition of Rain. She participates yearly in Plein Air and More events, Stormy Weather Art Festival, Spring Unveilings in Cannon Beach OR and has been featured in their local newspaper. Her work is presently shown at Cannon Beach Gallery.
