By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary American landscape painter Joshua Adam (born 1962 in San Rafael, California).
Raised in Mill Valley, California, Josh’s early influences were the “Visionary” artists of Marin County active in the 1970’s and his grandmother, who was a watercolorist.
Adam graduated with honors in studio art from Colorado College in 1984, then attended Chelsea School of Art in London. Josh had a series of one-person shows in San Francisco in the 1990’s, first at the William Sawyer Gallery, then five more at The Northpoint Gallery, which specializes primarily in 19th-century California painting and the Hudson River School. Alfred Harrison, the Northpoint Gallery director, considers Adam to be an heir to that tradition.
In 1999, Adam and his wife Susan, also an artist, moved to Castine, Maine where Susan has long family ties. They opened The Adam Gallery there in 2003, which shows works by both painters. Adam and Susan were co-artists–in-residence at the Masterworks Museum in Bermuda in the fall of 2015. They will return to Bermuda in March of 2017 for another show at The Masterworks Museum.
Early in his career, Adam was an 80% plein air, 20 % studio painter, now those percentages are reversed, and he spends most of his time on studio painting. Josh's artworks are found in corp0rate and private collections in the U.S. and abroad.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
“As a lifelong student of the natural world, I have always been intrigued by the infinite variety of form and color to be found in nature. Natural light illuminates these forms in a variety of ways. In my artwork, I attempt to convey these varying effects of light on form and color, and communicate the feeling of a particular place and time.
