By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary American landscape painter Lisa A. Zook (born 1958 in Whittier, California).

Born into the hands of a very creative mother, Lisa always had a plethora of art supplies close at hand. Additionally she was highly influenced by her high school art teacher - Artist Don Townsend and his prolific and unique Sgraffito works. In 2002 Lisa absorbed the teachings of one of her most-admired artists, McCreery Jordan of Santa Fe who was conducting an acrylic workshop in Toledo. Lisa's path and desire to become an artist was quite strong.

The Maryland Institute College of Art as well the Cleveland Institute College of Art accepted her Applications in 1975 and so she chose to Enroll in Baltimore Fall of '76. In 1980 she received her BFA from MICA majoring in Graphic Design/Illustration
She became a Technical Illustrator for Singer Link Simulator Systems in Silver Spring, Md..

Purchasing her first set of oils, brushes, palette knives, French & studio easels in 2001 following her mother's death, she began teaching herself how to oil paint. Through trial, repetition, loads of reading, research, experimentation and observing other favorite past and present oil Painters' works, she began to hone her own style of colorful, impressionist oil painting.

Lisa paints the landscape, seascape, figure or still life whether en plein air or in the studio, palette Knife or brush, that just plain grabs her artistic mind, heart and soul. She tends to enjoy depicting a strong sense of colorful light and shadow and loves seeking the hard lines and soft edges of her muse.

Currently residing in Ohio, Lisa has won numerous awards in Local Gallery Exhibitions and Shows.

             ARTIST'S STATEMENT

“When I come upon a setting that moves me, invites and excites me, a need occurs. The anticipation of mixing butter-like colors to apply. Color, Pattern, Form and Composition all challenge me.

More important than WHAT I Paint, is How I Convey what I SEE. For me, painting is almost sculptural. I am always hoping to evoke a mood or emotion for onlookers, much like what I initially saw and felt”
