By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the first of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary American landscape painter Amy D. Minson (born 1962 in Florida, USA).

Childhood influence.  Who could have known?  When award- winning artist Amy D. Minson was about 5 years of age and living in arcadian Florida she and her brothers were hauled off to pastel lessons. Other childhoods pursuits led her away from the practice of art. In later years her parents received a beautiful watercolor painting from a friend and artist, and she was enamored once again.

Fast forward forty "odd" years she then began the study of watercolor painting hoping to capture the soft tranquility that she found in nature. She did some of that, but realized that further study in other media was necessary. Pastel then made a reappearance in her life. The luscious palette that pastel had to offer was and still is intoxicating. Pastel was her single pursuit for many years through much studio work, classes, and workshops around the country. With more exposure and enjoyment of surrounding artists and their work the oil media began to call to her, and she became a "two timer" loving both media for their own unique qualities.

In 2010 the opportunity to pursue art full time presented itself. She continues to work and educate herself in order to improve her ability to express what the natural world means to her. Her paintings have been exhibited in regional, national, and international  shows, and are held in private collections through out the United States and around the world.

             ARTIST'S STATEMENT

“I have found a  passion in painting that I have never found in other pursuits. No matter if the painting is problematic or is one that flows smoothly my desire to improve my art has not wavered.

By striving for continued improvement my hope  is to better communicate that sense of wonder,  joy and serenity I find in nature.
