By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by contemporary American landscape painter Suzanne deLesseps (born 1946 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming).

 

Born in Wyoming, Suzanne spent her early years growing up on one of Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes in the lush countryside just outside Minneapolis. With yearly family trips to the mountains of Montana she was also exposed to the varied landscape across the country. Though she didn’t start painting until later in life, these early visual experiences in different landscapes have shaped the course of her artistic journey.

 

One of her first pastel workshops was with Albert Handel, who she feels was instrumental in setting her on her current path with pastel. Other early workshop influences have been Bob Rohm, Richard McKinley, Terry Ludwig, Marla Baggetta, and, recently, Barbara Jaenicke. Suzanne has taken oil workshops with Scott Christensen, Marc Hanson, Aaron Schuerr and Ian Roberts. She has also taken several intensive oil workshops with Maine painter Connie Hayes from 2014-2016.

Suzanne has exhibited and received awards in many national juried pastel exhibitions. Her pastel “Tangled” was accepted into the 28th International Association of Pastel Societies Juried Exhibition at the Salmagundi Club in New York City in June 2016. She has memberships in many art organizations and is a Juried Associate member of the Pastel Society of America, a signature member of the Pastel Painters of Maine, Connecticut Pastel Society, Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, Pastel Society of New Hampshire, and a juried member of the Degas Pastel Society.

​

Suzanne is retired from 30 years as a landscape gardener and now paints full time in both pastel and oil. She continues to travel and paint with artist friends in France and Italy as well as the US.

 

Suzanne and her husband live in a coastal village in Maine.
