"Bringing the Museum to You"

By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece Exhibitions of works by American contemporary Impressionist painter Anna Wainright  (born 1953 in Landsthul, Germany).

 

Anna has drawn and painted her entire life.  An early art degree in Graphic Design, was redirected into a degree in City Planning, and art was sidelined by career and family.  Anna began seriously painting again in 2007, and recently left the workforce to paint full-time. 

 

Early influence from contemporary Master pastelists Brooke Allison and Marge Levine helped nurture her passion for soft pastels.  Her success in the medium has brought her Signature membership in the Pastel Society of America, Pastel Society of New Jersey, Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, and Pastel Society of Tampa Bay, Emeritus.  Her awards include inclusion in the Pastel Journal’s Pastel 100 in 2011, 2013, and 2014, inclusion in the Pastel Society of America’s Butler Museum exhibition in 2013, and the President’s Award of the Connecticut Pastel Society in 2014. 

 

Anna paints predominately in pastels, and more recently in oils.  She paints in plein air, but prefers the studio.  Many of her paintings are drawn directly from the canvas where she finds that the painting actually develops out of itself.  She prefers to let the painting dictate where it wants to go, rather than the subject matter.  She continues to study the Masters both contemporary and historic, and take workshops when time allows with modern masters like Richard McKinley and Stan Sperlak. 

 

Her home and studio is in New Jersey and her work can be seen at the Artful Deposit in Bordentown, New Jersey, the Connoisseur Gallery in Bedminster, NJ, and the Essex and Sussex Gallery in Spring Lake, NJ.
