The Cyber Art Show

By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece Exhibitions of works by American contemporary Impressionist painter Beth Winfield (born 1958 in Cincinnati, Ohio).
Beth Winfield's love for painting started when she was in fourth grade. She took a weekly oil painting class with her mother. She grew up camping and living on farms in the Midwest and developed a love of the outdoors. Her parents encouraged her to seek a more lucrative career although painting was what she desired.
When she had a horse accident, which left her temporarily immobile, she turned to oil paints once again in 2000. She is finally able to satisfy that burning desire to create. And since back on her feet, she has discovered how much she loves painting in plein air. Beth loves the natural beauty of the landscape. She also studies figure drawing and figure painting to further enhance her skills.
Beth has been studied with well-known artists such as Terry Miura, Randy Sexton, Karl Dempwolf, Craig Nelson, Kevin Courter, Kathryn Stats, and Gil Dellinger. She plans on taking instruction from Scott Christensen in July.
Beth is a member of Oil Painters of America, California Art Club, American Women Artists, and American Impressionists Society.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
"There are so many things I try to express in my artwork. I love the softness of the landscape as the fleeting light dances across its surface. I love how light reflects off of objects during different times of the day, dynamically changing the scene with varying weather and circumstances. I also enjoy telling stories with paintings or inventing a landscape as I play with different values and shapes. For me, nature and the outdoors hold many memories, which is most likely why I feel a very strong connection to working outside."
