The Cyber Art Show
By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature a 12-piece Exhibition of works by American contemporary Impressionist painter Kurt A. Weiser (born 1968 in Framingham, Massachusetts).
Kurt grew up with creative parents. His father painted whenever he had free time and instilled his love of painting in Kurt and his five siblings. From a young age Kurt harbored an admiration for his father's creative gift. His mother was equally creative, her gift blossoming-- literally and figuratively--in the garden. Both parents influenced Kurt's art.
Kurt followed his passion, taking his love of precision and the aesthetic to college, where he studied Landscape Architecture. It was in this discipline and career that Kurt would combine his love of art and the outdoors. After graduating college in 1991, he went on to design community parks, recreation facilities, and landscape plans for commercial businesses and private residences nationwide.
Finding himself drawn to painting and warm weather, Kurt ventured to Southern California, where his brother owned a successful faux-finish painting business. Kurt joined him, learning the craft first-hand. With a network of clients, he began painting murals and getting closer to his true passion for art. At that time, his work included everything from Italian plaster finishes, children’s wall murals of “Winnie the Pooh,” restoration of historic landmarks, to golf- course murals for corporate offices. While Kurt enjoyed this work, he still wished to fulfill his own artistic dreams and desires. After getting married, he became a “stay-at-home” dad finding the true inspiration to create his current artworks.
Kurt was drawn to pastels because of their true colors. Techniques of layering and color combinations challenged him to understand the color wheel and all of its components. Kurt felt that he was in control of every step when creating a new piece by strategizing each layer with form, color and composition.
Working with pastels gave Kurt an entirely new perspective on everyday life. Not only did he look forward to painting when his son and daughter napped, but he began looking for photo opportunities with potential paintings in mind. Kurt even enlisted his wife to find potential painting subjects in the course of her travels. For Kurt, painting has become a family passion, the beginning of an artistic journey which continues to grow. He has found his true calling... as a father, husband and artist.
Kurt is affiliated with numerous painting associations: Master's Circle Signature Member International Association of Pastel Societies; Signature Member Pastel Society of America, New York, N.Y.; Associate Member
