  Feature Artist Bio

By permission of the artistThe Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece Exhibitions of works by American contemporary Impressionist painter S. Gary Frisk (born 1950  in South Bend, Indiana).

Gary started learning about art at an early age when visiting his grandmother. He would look in her art books and sit at her easel. She oil painted like a master and he loved her work. As one of life's ironies, he never took any lessons from herGary pursued a degree in engineering; however somewhere in his God-given DNA, there was a yearning that pressed him towards practicing art. Gary has sketches that

survived high school and his college notebooks are decorated with sketches. He nurtured his interest by visiting museums and galleries, growing Gary's realization that he wanted to oil paint.

Gary started this journey as a way to spend time with his daughter, taking a Saturday morning class, Beginning Oil Painting, at the Glassel School of Art in the fall of 2005. He continued his formal training by eventually taking seven classes there. Additionally, Gary has

taken workshops from nationally-recognized artists V. Vaughan, C.W. Mundy, Jeffrey C. Legg, Kathleen Dunphy and Stapleton Kearns. His work has won awards in local shows and he has entered and been accepted into national shows to gain experience.

Gary still works full-time as an engineer and project manager. However, he makes time for putting in the mileage & finding his painting style. He continues to grow and learn.
