By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the first of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by American landscape painter Pamela Hamilton (born 1961 in Illinois, USA).

Chicago-area native, Pamela Hamilton has been an artist for as long as she can remember—all the way back to her pre-school days, painting the side of her father’s car with house paint, the walls with her mother’s potting soil, and the blank page inside the cover of every encyclopedia in the set. In high school, she was voted “Best Artist” and received a fine art scholarship. She went on to study painting and drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. A short-lived dream, Pamela completed only her first year, then married and started her family.

The next three decades were spent raising her three children, returning to school to pursue a career in graphic design, and eventually becoming the art director of a national magazine leaving little-to-no time for painting. After switching to a part-time position as a photo stylist, Pamela finally found the time to reclaim her passion for art. In 2010, she enrolled in an oil pastel class at a community arts center and immediately fell in love with the medium. In 2013, Pamela abandoned oil pastels for soft (dry) pastels, which she felt was better suited for painting in the Midwestern-summer heat. Since then she works almost exclusively in the medium.

Pamela has participated in more than 60 exhibits, including numerous juried fine art fairs and solo shows, and has earned four “Best in Show” titles and numerous awards in other categories. In 2016, she will be exhibiting at Edgewood Orchard Galleries in Fish Creek WI, and Maggie Black in Galena, IL.

Pamela is a member of the DuPage Art League, the Wayne Art League, the Greater Geneva Art Guild, the Chicago Pastel Painters and a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America.
