The Cyber Art Show
By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by American landscape painter George Gallo (born 1956 in Port Chester, New York).
George is an American screenwriter, film director, producer, painter and musician. He is best known for writing Midnight Run, 29th Street, Bad Boys, and Middle Men. He also wrote and directed Local Color, a semi-autobiographical film based on the painting experiences of his youth.
George is an accomplished painter in the style of the Pennsylvania Impressionists. He began painting at an early age and was especially attracted to landscapes as a way to express himself. He studied under the Russian master George Cherepov in Greenwich, Connecticut for three years. Gallo's approach is to paint outdoors en plein air no matter the size of canvas. He considers the act of painting a performance. He is very much inspired by the works of Edward Redfield and Daniel Garber, both masters of the Pennsylvania Impressionist movement.
Gallo has had several one-man shows including three at Grand Central Art Galleries in New York City and received numerous awards for both his painting and filmmaking. Gallo's work can be found in prominent collections around the world including the private collections of Robert DeNiro, Meg Ryan, Bruce Hornsby, Gary Sinise, Armin Mueller-Stahl and Mel Gibson.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
"I know of no better way to cleanse a soul than painting plein aire landscapes. Whereas people can deceive, charm and flirt, nature, as my departed Dad used to say, 'Is what it is.' It is my personal love, respect and awe of the sheer unyielding natural beauty of what lies around us that I am trying to bring forward in these works."
