The Cyber Art Show
By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by American landscape painter Karen McFeaters (born 1965 in Boston, Massachsetts).
Karen McFeaters is a Boston-born artist who studied at Boston University and the Maine College of Art. She resides in Boston and is a member of the Fort Point Arts Community (FPAC) in Boston.
Though a sculpture major in college, Karen chose to focus primarily on painting after a move to Florida in 1991. While in Florida, Karen painted landscapes of St. Augustine, Sarasota, Miami and rural Central Florida. She exhibited her paintings at Gallery 17:92 in Winter Park, Orlando’s A Gilded Frame and Eco Art, and Stellers Gallery in Jacksonville and was commissioned by CNL Bank for their branch in Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill golf resort.
In 2004 Karen began painting her pugs, Lulu and Newman. One of Karen’s passionate causes is pug rescue groups and she donates her pug paintings to many fundraiser auctions several times a year. As a result, Karen’s commissioned pet portraits are highly sought-after.
Karen has exhibited her pieces locally at the Gallery at Fort Point Framers, Fidelity Investments, the Accidental Gallery, Art @ 12, The Boston Children’s Museum, 25 Channel Center, the Boston Convention Center and the Made in Fort Point store, among others. Her work is in several private and corporate collections.
Recently, Karen has been focusing heavily on her trademark impressionistic city scenes, including many of the Fort Point area, Trinity Church and Fenway Park. She also works extensively on landscapes and recently created a body of work focusing on the therapeutic relationship between people and their pets. Karen does work on commission, including a Fenway Park painting for WBUR.
