By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works y Russian landscape

painter Igor Staritsin (born 1989 in Krasnodar City, Russia).

Igor has been fascinated by amazing landscape art since he was a child. Born and raised in Russia, he was exposed to amazing artworks of legendary Russian painters such as Ivan Shishkin, Ivan Aivazovsky, Isaak Levitan, Ilya Repin, Alexei Savrasov (just to name a few) and many-many more. Drawing and painting were by far activities he enjoyed the most as a kid. Later, at school age, Igor enrolled into music school along with art classes and successfully graduated a few years later.

 

“I believe music and painting have a lot in common, says Staritsin. "I feel like I can almost translate influence of music on the canvas through the means in hand. I also believe that music and painting have a lot in common. Famous Russian composer Igor Stravinsky said, 'If you get too much harmony it starts to be boring and if you get too much variety it starts to be chaotic, so it is a balancing act in between those two.' I feel the same about painting and there is a lot more you can translate from music into painting. Values, colors, edges are like those right tones and notes that one desperately looking for in order to create a unique harmony and make the painting work as a whole."

 

10 years ago Igor started working as a designer for a project for Disney Land, since then he has been successfully working in visual effects and video game industries as a senior concept designer and matte painter along with being world widely-known for his traditional and digital art. He has been teaching traditional and digital art for students from all over the globe and was invited by one of the biggest online platform called Gnomon Workshop (specializing in creating content for traditional and digital artists) to create his tutorial for artists of all level.

 

Many of his artworks have been featured in best books of digital art by “Ballistic Publishing.” He made best entry into D’Artiste Matte-Painting 3 book dedicated to invisible art of creating special effects for films.  

Igor believes that being an artist is a lifelong journey. He feels that while (an art career) is not an easy path, full of ups and downs--capturing the magnificent beauty of nature is definitely a goal worth pursuing.

Igor’s landscape paintings are found in art collections around the world.

                          ARTIST'S STATEMENT


I would totally recommend everybody get out there as often as you can and paint from life. Painting outdoors is vital to one’s growth! You happen to see all the colors and subtle transitions in front of you and have the challenge to get it on canvas as soon as you can.

 

Painting outdoors involves a lot of fast-moving light, so an artist has to be skilled enough to be able to capture essentials and be able to translate the significance of the scene through the paints onto the canvas. Sometimes it’s just 20 minutes of the actual painting process, but your study should show that you have been able to feel the beauty of the scene before you. Then you can get back to the studio and elaborate a larger canvas based on your study.”
