Feature Artist Bio
By permission of the artist, The Cyber Art Show is pleased to feature the second of two 12-piece exhibitions of works by American
landscape painter Jill Stefani Wagner (born 1955 in Port Huron, Michigan).
Jill received a B.F.A. from The University of Michigan School of Art. She owned a successful, award-winning advertising firm in Ann Arbor, Michigan, before “seeing the light” and becoming a full-time artist.
Whether painting landscapes, interiors or figures, artist Jill's primary focus is always “light” and how it affects the scene she is trying to capture. Working in pastel and oil, she approaches her paintings as a sculptor would, carving out the nuances of highlight and shadow. An avid plein air artist, Jill paints the landscapes in Italy and plein air festivals around the United States. Her paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout the country and are included in various corporate and private collections.
Jill’s paintings have been juried into the prestigious International Association of Pastel Societies Exhibits and she was recently honored with multiple awards by the Pastel Society of America and the Great Lakes Pastel Society. The Pastel Society of North Florida honored Jill with First Place and Exceptional Merit Awards. Pastel Journal Magazine has awarded her six Honorable Mentions in their Annual Pastel 100 Competitions.
One of Jill’s paintings graces the cover of the November 2016 Plein Air Magazine. Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine highlighted her work in an article titled “Today’s Masters, Artists Making their Mark,” and Pastel Journal included her pastel paintings in articles on art inspired by travel and waterscapes. Recently, the best-selling French magazine, Practique des Arts, featured her work in a “Skyscapes” article.
She has been designated a Master Pastelist by the Pastel Society of America, and belongs to the Great Lakes Pastel Society, Degas Pastel Society and Oil Painters of America. Jill was an invited faculty member at the 2016 and 2017 Plein Air Convention.
Ms Wagner’s art work is represented in Michigan by J. Petter Galleries in Douglas/Saugatuk, Tvedten Fine Art in Harbor Springs, and WSG Gallery in Ann Arbor.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
“My oil, watercolor and pastel paintings are reflections of a lifelong fascination with the interplay of light, shadow, color and form.
I aim for realism with a painterly twist, but sometimes I allow the rich hues and textures of a scene to dominate. Oil and pastel are exhilarating mediums that lead to endless adventures… and sometimes I’m just happy to follow their lead."
